Mr Riley is the MD of Spearhead, the founder of the business and a member of the Company’s Board of Directors. As such, he is responsible for managing the growth of Spearhead as a world-leading provider of global consulting, immersive and interactive software development and hardware outsourcing services. Mr Riley launched Spearhead in February 2013 after a successful tenure in academia at Teesside University where he assisted in conducting unprecidented research into online 3D technologies and their potential for commercial applications. During this time he spoke at multiple international conferences on the subject of 3D technologies, secured multiple projects up to £1m in value and had two research papers published. In 2012 Mr Riley was commissioned by the Association of Virtual Worlds to write a white paper on the emergence, impact and opportunities of the Virtual Goods market. This paper has since been included in a hardback publication.
Application of such knowledge within the private sector has resulted in rapid growth for Spearhead, with a Top 10 nomination at the Europe-wide Thinking Digital awards just three months into trading, a complimentary place on the UK Trade & Investment Passport to Export programme after winning the Exporting for Growth prize and the company finished 2013 with a Top 20 UK Start-up business award.
Mr Riley is a rising authority on the interconnected nature of the market with a strong background in traditional and emerging technologies. He has obtained formal qualifications in computing, information technology, 3D animation and creative media.
