Case study: Middlesbrough Council

About the project:

Middlesbrough Council is a unitary authority based in Middlesbrough in North Yorkshire, England, however independent of the county council.

Spearhead Interactive were commissioned to create and deliver a Virtual Reality experience of One Centre Square, Middlesbrough. This software was completed whilst construction was ongoing, and was used as a layout planning tool by the council.

OPTIMISED REAL-TIME 3D ASSET

Using existing CAD as a foundation, the 3D model was optimised for real-time rendering, with no loss of detail in the asset; additional furniture and fittings were also placed in situ according to design specifications.

INTERACTIVE SERVICES

Users are able to interact with specific elements of functionality around the building to enhance the experience and bring the static object to life, important for the Council as the building was being constructed.

NAVIGATION SYSTEM

Navigation around the software has been kept very simple to ensure ease of use for the user.

Users can select an area to be teleported to, with additional seamless controls to move instantly between floors.
